cubalaya--I will be watching to see how thing go, and I hope you wow us with more photos. MyPetChicken recomended them as a good match for me, but I kind of didn't beleive them. I may change my mind.
BIG UPDATE
The leghorn is dead, unsure about cause of death. I cut out the scratch temporarilly and gave them yeast on topp of their food. Everyone else looks good, with the exception of my boss hen who started limpimg slightly and a white ee hen who just has looked run down for about 2 wks but still acts normal.
Last night I picked up two cute fledglings and a near grown columbian bantum (she's sooo pretty I couldn't resist, plus I took my son, who is an enabler, with me). I also secured 4 newly hatched EEs.
When I got home I kicked Wiggens off the nest so i could add freash bedding and water and fill the feeder up with chick starter. A few hours later I returned to tuck everyone in and add the chicks, but Wiggens had locked herself out. She was behind the broody cage sitting on our 2 nearly grown silkies!!! I put the chicks in the nest and then put her in too. She pecked at one. I told her "those are your BABIES" and set her right on top of them. She imediately started purring
As of this AM all chicks are alive and Wiggens is clucking up a storm! I think tomorrow I will open the door
Stinkeye?
When I lifted her to ensure they weren't all crushed one excaped. She did lightly peek it twice before pushing it underher just like an egg. Do I need to worry about the peeking? She's making happy nioses, so I'm assuming she's happy. She does know she can't just sit on them forever, right? I know I'm being dumb...here's a pic--
