Old Fashioned Broody Hen Hatch A Long and Informational Thread

Rachel'sFlock :

Ok, I was pretty sure I was gonna have a heart attack when I saw this...

Penelope, Primrose, Mum and DAD all out enjoying a scratch and some nice oats in the run...

Sooooo...do I remove the remaining unhatched eggs, now? Or do I wait til tomorrow, or 72 hours from first chick hatching? She has been off the eggs for about half an hour, as of right now. They are not cool, but no longer warm to the touch. It is about 75 degrees today.

I still cannot believe she has them outside already!!!

It's cute how nervous the roos are around the youngsters!!

x2 what Lydia said. Clean 'em up and let the family move on.

Just my 2 cents but i think she may be done, what a sweet family.

I kinda concur, despite not having the faintest idea. This is the longest she has been off the nest in about 24 days!!!
Ok, gonna pull the leftover eggs and leave the family to its business. Clearly, they have it figured out, without any help from me!!!
Thanks again, as always

I have spent the day watching ALL NEW episodes!!!!
Just got Mamma and the peeps back into their coop, which makes me be able to breathe a bit better. The rest of the flock will be behind them, by an hour or so, but I wanted them in and settled first.
I also have to leave, shortly, to go to dinner at my parents, and I know I couldn't have left without knowing they were back, inside, and under their Mum, where they will be safe.

It's been quite a day here in the farmyard!

Been there, done that, and TOTALLY looking forward to doing it again!!

I knew I had found the right group of people at the "Incubators Anonymous" thread when I realized I was ready to do it all again, already!
