funny girl that she is, when she sees me she hops up and leaves me to watch her eggs. Then I have to catch her and put her back on her eggs.

If I can stand it, I'll wait until tonight to check again.

I have one black chick, just hatched! Wow! yumyum won't let me take photos, but did draw blood when I moved her and baby and eggs to a cardboard box onto the floor of the coop. I was shocked! Didn't think it would go from pip to hatched so fast! (Course, I don't know when they pipped so maybe it wasn't so fast. lol)

Thanks to all about my birds. To whoever asked about processing and being safe, only the necks were bitten or eaten. I'm all done proccessing and they are in the freezer. All the other birds have their coops beefed up. Traps are set as usual. This time with chicken innards as bait. It's been a busy day. thank you to all.

They are adorable and mama is a doll too. Did you let her keep the eggs?

We had a tousle over them which I won. I didn't think they were fertile as the Cochins are so fluffy and I figured the JB roo just didn't have the "reach" to produce fertile eggs with them. I may have been to quick to judge him though as one of the eggs I cracked for dinner tonight had a huge bullseye! Go Haiku!! (DD named him, he IS a Japanese bantam!)
