They work awhile then rest, it's hard work breaking out of the shell but makes them strong and ready to face the world. hang in there. you will see progress today and hopefully a chick by days end. I wouldn't mess with it much.

thanks, I checked him this morning and he had pipped and was peeping his heart out!!

You know I went hoping to pick up some Aracauna's and missed (by just a few minutes

) one of the people I was going to meet. I did get the cubalaya cockeral. And then a half dozen Welsummer and 4 Maran eggs and white silkie roo, and mixed top hat pullet somehow followed me home.

So glad I went!

Nope, he has started to zip and I can see a little black beak through the hole!

Exciting, Animalian!!!! Good luck to the little one!

Congrats on your 3 cuties, runsw/scissors! AND for all your goodies from the swap!

Perchie.girl - they did when they were younger so I'm pretty sure she'll remember how. I haven't seen her get off her nest a single time but I sure hope she's taken a sip at least! When they were chicks they drove me crazy making a mess of the water and knocked one over once so I switched (trick I learned here of course!) and they took to it immediately!

Jl - hope all the wee ones made it!! I bet they're soo cute!

Well, my girl is now sitting on 3 Silkie eggs instead of golf balls!

I went to a little farm down the road and he was worried that they would all be too cold to hatch (stop selling hatching eggs this late in the year) so he stole these 3 from a broody who had already been sitting on them for 2 days!

I was so scared to let them get cold I held them against my belly the whole time and the whole way home.
