Okay I have a question: My game hen Miss Lydia hatched her chicks last week, well the day she came out of the brood coop with them she was acting [well like a game hen flighty and crazy] she must have somehow cut her feet on the rocks we have all voer the place, she had 2 cuts not deep but enough to cause her some discomfort. I took her and soaked her feet and then applied Blue Kote to them put her to bed for the night, next day she came out limping again, so that evening I cleaned her feet again and strayed Vetricyn on them, yesterday when she came out with her chicks she was not putting any weight on her leg. so i had to wait till she finally took them to bed last eve, and caught her and soaked her feet good and examined them again. the cuts look like they are healing fine, but there is a small amount of swelling now in her upper foot and some bruising on her leg. It's not broke but maybe she bruised her leg? I really don't know what she has done, but anyway. after seeing her struggle yesterday i am thinking I'll leave her and chicks closed up for a couple days so she doesn't have to try and walk so much, will this be okay? I have never kept a mama hen and chicks closed up after she has brought them outside. But feel like for Lydias sake she needs to stay off her leg. I don't want to have to take her chicks from her they have clearly bonded and I just don't want to do that to them. I think I'll cut a piece of sod for them and then the chicks will have something to do while mom recoops. Do ya'll think this will be okay?
