At this point I am thinking the cuts themselves aren't the problem. But will surely keep an eye on it. although the one cut was worse than the other a piece of skin was hanging but I cleaned them real good and hopefully she'll be back to being Miss Lydia in a few days. She is an awesome mama.

Oh BG I feel for you and your girls. I am amazed we haven't had to deal with it with the amount of rocks and stones we have here in these mountains, I think they just keep producing them because there always seems to be more. I thought my big Muscovy drake had it last year. And it ended up being a really big hardened callous he's 9 yrs old and walking all these years i guess he just made on e that got painful, I tried alot of diff things on him trying to get him some relief. ended up buying AmLactin for humans. it has Alpha Hydroxy in it pretty expensive but he is doing so good now. it really softened that callous up. What we won't do for our birds. Has your girls all recovered? And when you have time tell us what all you have done to treat, I am always looking for answers just in case. Having 13 ducks with 2 more on the way, we had to put down some small gravel to keep the mud and muck down also so I'm sure that hasn't helped.Antibiotics are a last resort around here. It's a lotion like hand lotion. I just catch him before bed time and wash his feet good. dry and rub in the lotion. I actually bought it for myself. because of rough skin on my heels and I had tried all manner of lotions some pretty pricey then I think I read about the AmLactin and found it at CVS great stuff.
