I am a fan of epsom salt too, I use it for long soaks in the winter when it gets dark so early and i have the time. put some lavender oil in and just soak away. Just had a mishap but things got straightened out quick, i went and took Lydia out of the brood coop to look at her foot and leg and give her a soak when i close the door there was a small crack big enough for her chicks to squeeze through all of a sudden there they are at my feet while I'm holding Lydia, well i stick her in the coop thinking she'll call them to her nope she jumps out and start to hop off, well i was able to pick her up and put her into the coop then pick up the chicks and put them in with her. I'm thinking next time i may get dh to help so we can be sure chicks don't escape. She is still not putting any weight on her foot. I sure hope she recovers from this.I am a fan of Epsom salts, for me and my animals. My Stewie had a terrible time with one leg months ago. It was bleeding, and others were pecking her, and her leg was painful and swollen. I would bring her in and bathe her feet every evening. Sometimes I put. Bluecote on and sometimes I put antibiotic ointment on, and sometimes I put bag balm on. There was a lot of over thinking occurring, and different treatments resulted. However, she recovered, and I think she enjoyed her visits to the BIG coop (mine) and she seemed to appreciate my help.
