Mamma Tilda had the brood out in the coop for the first time, today, scratching and pecking and just generally being adorable. Mamma, 8 BA babies and the 2 little whites are hilarious. But, diversity begins at home!
I am sick that my camera is on holiday without me. Oh well...I am enjoying the heck out of them, even if no one else can see them!

I stuck nine mystery eggs under my broody this evening ( do I count today since its evening ) any ways not sure what they are, could be RIR , brahama, bard rocks, and since 4 were blue of course EE'S Yay! the count down begins! , I love when broodys do all the work!

Oh my stars and garters!
Today was the peeps first day out from the broody containment field. I left the gate open and one of the old hens wandered in to see what was going on. She pecked at one of the chooks (tho not very violently) and it peeped pretty loudly.
Mamma Tilda completely lost her entire darn mind!

She flew at Molly like a rooster and grabbed ahold of her head feathers and wouldn't let go until I pulled Molly from the pen, Tilda still attached.
I am no longer even remotely concerned about this first-time Mamma's ability or desire to protect her brood!

Congrats on the new setting!
Now comes the hardest part...waiting!
