Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

what am i supposed to do with the drake because i free range them and when she wants to take them outside what am i supposed to do with the drake
This is what I did, I have a small coop that I use for broody's and I bought some plastic poultry fencing and those fiber glass fence poles for 2.something at Lowes and put fencing up around her broody house till ducklings are big enough to get out of the way of all the rest of the flock. Where does he sleep at night? is there anyway you can do something similar just till ducklings are around 2-3 weeks old.
I have 3 drakes and a gander so I didn't want to take any chances after we had 2 ducklings killed last year.

Any suggestions for me? My poor drake's already lonely since she's been sitting for a month now, I would feel bad about separating them for another 2-3 weeks. He's still perched there at the top of the pool ramp

Give him part of the yard, that way he is still with her but the duckling are safe. Another thing is mama ducks prefer not having the drake around right off. I know he's lonely but he'll get over it.

well everyone sleeps in the barn and the 2 drakes sleep in a different stall so i can leave them in there thats no problem would the momma do fine being outside with her ducklings with chickens around ???

My ducks and chickens co mingle But if your duck hatches all those eggs she is going to need you help to keep everyone together. that's where a chicken might try to get in a peck, but I don't think one would seriously injure a duckling. You'll just have to monitor the situation when she brings them out.

Thanks!! I feel like a judge, trying to decide which duck is going to get what property in the separation

(Daffy gets big pool, and small shelter, Daisy gets duck house, small water bin. Yes, I know, very unique names!!)

But the separation isn't permanent, which is very important. Easy names to remember.
