My Muscovy went broody in the geeses stall on the gooses eggs, heavens I tried for close to a week to get her to realize it wasn't going to work since the geese sleep in there, lol so finally I took 4 of the gooses eggs most of the bedding and down that my duck had used for the nest and put her into a Large dog crate in my feed room, when i first put her in she was determined to get out climbing on the crate door but it wasn't long before she turned and saw her eggs and settled down, I kept her in the crate with the door closed for a day, now I open the door and let her come out when she wants which is usually once a day, she wants to poop wash and eat. very important they have water to bath in that how they keep the humidity where it's suppose to be under them. My first time ever moving a broody duck all I had ever heard was if you move them they won't stay. I guess it depends on how serious they are because this duck was and is. If you have a piece of ply wood laying around why not just put up a divider in front of where she is laying her eggs, it will give her some privacy leave it open enough so she can come and go but there will be a wall between her and the rest of the flock. Good luck.I am waiting for my duck (muscovy) to go broody so far she's laid 2 eggs. She layed them in a nesting box/storage container in the coop that's not really private. What should I do to make it more private or should I just leave it alone? We have a very small coop & the ducks live with the chickens. The chickens lay there eggs outside the coop because we are still waiting on DH to install an exterior egg box

Keirys-- that's tough. My Khaki Campbell (who hatched 2 Ducklings last night btw) likes to build her nest under the ramp in the corner and on concrete. Last year I moved her nest with my giant shovel, and she was really irritated with me but everything went all right anyway. This year I left her alone. If you move her nest she might not want to return to it. Hopefully some more experienced people will get on here and tell you what they think.

Sounds like she is close. Thanks I think I will just leave it alone then. Dh brought homewater proof liner I can make a curtain out ofShe layed her eggs inside a big storage container that I was meaning to take out. That's my fault so I guess it stays. She's not broody yet but I can tell she's gotten mean shes usually a layed back duck, now shes shoving the hens & baby chicks out of the way.![]()
