my plans exactly isn't walking at all but has eaten good and drank water with nutri drench and i'm holding it under a towel close to my heart. dh looked at it's leg when he got home and also didn't think it should go out yet.so we'll see how it is tomorrow.i like the blue kote and use it a lot but for this wee one decided to stick with veterycin.

How far down the leg is the cut? Near the toes/foot or higher up?

You know if the lil guy makes it going to be spoiled rotten and no other birds are gonna be good enough.

I have a young hen sitting on 9 fertile eggs and one has an internal pip so I should have ducklings soon. I am trading these ducklings for some hatched by someone else so I am hoping the mother duck won't notice the switch. I may have to to take additional ducklings away to sell since I have a waiting list for ducklings and I would not be able to keep track of which ones are unrelated (the keepers). I am going to have to move her to the pen where the ducklings will be safe so I might be able to take the extra eggs before they hatch and finish them in the incubator.

I had a mother duck (she raised a clutch last year) in the pen on a nest and I decided to check it tonight. It turns out she had 37 eggs that were either infertile or bad. I have left her alone thinking she kew what she was doing but she is going to have to start over with the other ducks who attempted to sit on a nest and failed. It is a good thing I have been incubating eggs because my ducks have not been doing such a good job with the exception of the mother due to hatch a clutch anytime.

The wound is up close to the body upper leg, looks much better this morning still kinda wobbly though so not sure if I will put it back out, it maybe a house duck for a while.

On my end, the new mom is doing great. I checked on the babies this morning to make sure all 18 were still there, and I counted 19! I re-counted to be sure, and there really are 19 babies. I must have counted wrong the first time. And I am glad no one is missing.
The other mom who adopted the older duckling has also taken up babysitting duties for the youngest ones. When the babies are inside, she will take some of them under her wing. She also looks after them when she is out too. I just hope with her role as adoptive mom and babysitter, she doesn't forget about her own eggs. So far it's still okay...

wow that's a lot of ducklings and trying to keep them still to get an accurate head count well no wonder you missed one, look forward to seeing pics. Thanks for the good thoughts too.
