Old fashioned Broody Thread for Ducks

Thank you so much .. she would get off the nest for about 30-45 min in the morning and thats when she would chase sally all over the yard.. sally would be nowhere near her nest... I put up a divider in the far end of the coop where she has the nest to keep anyone from going near her or her eggs

Good morning .. I tried to keep her locked up this morning but she wanted out ...she took off and flew out of the pen and all the way out of the coop... but she is not going after Sally this morning .. maybe she calmed down some... Thanks for the suggestions

Tomorrow is the big day (day 28) checked the eggs this morning and it looks like 3 or 4 of the 6 will hatch.. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I got 3 baby ducks 2 just out of the shell and 1 part way out.. I took the other 3 eggs out and put them under the light to see if they are still good .. I should of taken them out along time ago but wasn't sure ..

Mom and baby's are doing great ...had to sneek in and take pics she pushed the nest down and is on top now with the baby's...






Had to help one of the black ones out of the shell last night .. but all was up and walking around with mom this morning eating..

Wow, she will be a good mom, just keep an eye on things which you are already. Congrats Duckie Momma (or shoudl I say Gran-momma), your instincts were right. Wish you much luck and sure things will be fine. Keep posting, we virgins of letting nature take its course instead of incubating will be happy for the education.

Things are going Great!! moma was trying to flog me this morning when I picked up the black baby, tried to check if it was a boy or girl ..lolol that was a laugh.. couldn't find anything, so I'll just wait a few weeks then we will know what sex they are.. she has them up and eating and going through lots of water .. I am filling the quart jar of water 4x a day plus water for mom and a small pan for them to play in...here is the best pic I could get yesterday...
