Old fashioned Broody Thread for Ducks

Ugh.. that is so disheartening, i really have not quite figured 'Junior' out yet, it's big but is feathering really fast more-so than the drakes i had last summer @ 3-4wks... It's hard to get a good picture, it's really scurry's off, it's keeping up very well and the other birds have accepted it nicely.

I can show a cute pic I got of it and mama and i am pretty sure dad(spot) I apologize for the largeness but it's hard to see otherwise and I didn't want to get to close and loose the short(just using my cell lol) Mama is right behind baby(Junior) and spot is to the right..

Nice pic and I like her coloring. I know when you have no other duckling to compare it really makes it hard, I sold his 2 sibs when they were only 2 weeks old so he has grown up with no other duckling till this 2 week old came, but they have made friends so i'm happy about that.

It is hard you think you'll recall but er.. no, that is easier said than done, i need to locate the pics of the boys last year, that should help. I'm glad it's gotten on ok with the rest, the rest of the birds are over 1yo but the pair of boys won't be 1 till Aug and act it lol

Well still just the one but we're all dried and wide eyed, about to upload pics now.. we are calling it rubber duckie, first of all looks just like one and second it's genderless lol

Looks like an all white baby which is none to surprising as these were Lilly's(all white bird) and i am fairly certain they are spots(black capped white drake)



There are 3 more eggs but who knows?

We seem to be a one chick wonder around here lol

Thank you! Poor lilly.. she's sitting on a huge nest of eggs.. that were Lilacs.. i still don't get why she left this nest, she would have had her baby now.

We have had a stressful last week and a 1/2 personally and once again chilled on the back deck and watched Penelope and her lil ones swim around. Melts the troubles right away! Cute lil buggers.

It's amazing how much just sitting and watching our ducks can bring down the stress level. I love it. Hope this week is better stony..

Okay Quackers, since you have Muscovy tell me what your opinion is of our 6 wk old? Feathers coming in and I can even see some green on it's back some. I cannot remember how far along my duckling[drake] was last year at this age. Need to go study pics. lol

ya know i love my drakes just wish they could learn to like each other. and like stony the enablers said last night does give one reason to get more girls.. My order is in to Alice on her 5 eggs, all girls.
