Old Fools exchanging chickens for CAMELS…

Thanks, Fwschrom, for your really helpful reply. We will do our best to fit in. Life in this tiny Spanish mountain village is very different to the life we left behind in Britain, so we are quite used to adapting. It'll be an adventure, we hope, and it's only for one year.

Just found this old thread... Well, we're back safe and sound and Fwschrom's advice was exactly right.

However, if we'd known that the Arab Spring would be born, and that we'd be witnessing violent protests and hearing terrible things from our pupils, I don't think we'd have gone at all.

It just makes me thank my lucky stars that we're back home in our little Spanish mountain village where only our chickens protest if we're late with their treats.

Victoria: I am reading this morning that the feeling is things are starting to heat up again in Bahrain. It is a good country to not be in right now. Good luck on the new book and we look forward to hearing more from you.

I hadn't seen this thread originally, but just read reviews on the books. They sound like something I can't resist, and Amazon is sooooooo easy! I ordered the first one, and will be ordering the other one shortly. I look forward to sharing these adventures with you!

Hi Capvin - you are so right! My friends tell me that things are hotting up there, ready for the anniversary of the protests last year. (Feb 14th is when it all kicked off and 63 have died since then, I believe.) They are going to stage a Day of Rage 2 which sounds terrifying. Very glad we're out of it. Having said that, the individuals we met and worked with were utterly charming and I don't regret our year there.

These 2 pictures show the massive contrast in our lives! Last year it was Manama, Bahrain, (Pic 1) and now we're back in our Spanish village (Pic 2). By the way, in the first pic, the black section on the right are all women.

Chickfan - Thank you!!!

Victoria :)

OMG, so glad you showed us a picture of your spanish village...
Ugh... so beautiful... :love

What are the people of Bahrain protesting about??
