It has been nearly 40 years since I've been around chickens we raised back then. And, the Cajun women raised, fed, butchered and cooked the poultry. My grandmother would ask us to catch them for her. My mom did her own catching.
I took no active interest in chickens back then. My brother always had a small flock of the most beautiful "banties" you ever saw. I must admit, I liked watching the chickens do their thing. Especially the little bantams. But that farm required soooo much work that all of my fun-time was spent doing things unrelated to farm-work.
I am now an old man and, the thought of raising some chickens sounds like fun to me now. My 10 grandchildren will enjoy them also.
