Old hen egg bound?

Is it possible for an old hen who hasn't laid in well over a year to become egg bound?

Yes it is.

What are her symptoms?

If you think she's egg bound, then it would be a good idea to feel for an egg and start giving her Extra Calcium asap.
For a crisis, give Calcium Citrate with D3 for a few days, you can find this at Walmart, CVS, etc. Give 1 tablet daily, just open the beak and pop the tablet in, let her swallow.
