Old Starter Grower Chicken Feed

I have a broody RIR that has been sitting for 18 days as of today. If I am lucky I will have new baby chicks Friday. My question is it OK to feed Purina Starter Grower chick feed that is a year old left over from starting their mother as a chick a year ago. The feed has been kept dry in a plastic trash can. I have about 20 pounds left over, if the chicks do alright I will have to buy new feed anyway. Thanks for any advice. Benny

If its still good ( no mold) then I dont see why not! I bought some feed from a man that had stored it for over a year and it was still good!

If it has been kept cool and dry all this time I'd mix it with fresher feed about half and half. If it's been sitting in a hot area (over the summer) during that year it'll make excellent fertilizer.
