Older chicken

My 5 year old hen still produces an egg a day. She is free range during day and locked up at night. She stopped eating pellets. I tried crumbles but she only wants to eat when I moisten it. She constantly begs for grapes - her treat. She acts hungry all the time and her crop sometimes looks large but is soft. I have given her bread with olive oil for crop. Any suggestions of what is going on with her

No idea Sherryl what is going on but my chickens like their crumbles moist also. Welcome to BYC . There is a lot of information on here and a lot of people who can probably answer your question.

I'd cut all treats out and start feeding her wet crumbles until she starts eating "norma;" again.

Hi Sherry and welcome to BYC. Have you wormed her recently? If not, that would be the first thing I would try.

Hi Sherry and welcome to BYC I agree with both recommendations you've already gotten. She should be eating about 4.5 oz per day and drinking double that. Also just to note that when temps are over 85 degrees they tend to eat less and may need additional protein.
