Hi my New Hampshire red is 5 years old and she is fluffed up more than the others and not eating.
Lacking energy.
No respiratory issues. She doesn't lay eggs anymore.
How long do chicken live for?
They all were dewormed.
And her bottom looks just fine.
She looks perfect except for her not eating and moving less.
We had a cold spell and I brought her into my foyer. Unfortunately I am out of town- my husband tried to give her scrambled egg w sugar and oregano.- nothing.
His photo camera doesn't work- is this her end of her life? Sad I am not home thankful he is doing his best to care for her

Hi my New Hampshire red is 5 years old and she is fluffed up more than the others and not eating.
Lacking energy.
She is a good weight.
I noticed her eating less before I left so for a few days. I did try to seperate her so she wouldn't need to compete to eat. She wasn't interested and even w treats.
We had a serious cold spell- I was heating the coop just because we had negative temperatures
All other hens are fine.
Even her sister.
All eating fine and poop is fine.
She looked more fluffy than the others. So i been watching her. Today I asked my husband to set up a dog kennel in the house for her. It is cooler there but way warmer than outside

Has she been broody in the past?
No, never gone broody.
I had a broody hen this summer and she did eat.
This is something else.
The hen is 5 years old and has all her feathers. Bottom is healthy,
Just not eating much and is moving less.
I treated w Oregano oil.
On comb and wattle.
Husband is home caring for her- this isn't his thing but I give him credit for doing what he can for her.
She is in a dog crate with her own food and water.
She didn't fuss when he carried her in. So she is getting weaker.

I'm sorry your hen isn't feeling well. Five is not that old, I don't know much about New Hampshire Reds but I think she should have a few more years in her. Is it possible she's constipated or has a crop issue? Is she pooping much? Could you ask your husband to check her crop for hardness or squishiness? Best wishes
