I will be getting a 3 mos old silkie chick. I already 4 silkies who is 5weeks. Will the older one pick on the little onset hey are in my home in a 40x24 inch cage

I have 5 wk Silkies too!! :) Mine are white..what color are yours? (I can't wait to get back home and post pics. :)

Some one will answer soon, but I would watch them real close. It's nice they outnumber the older,one.. but.. I dunno. Older one could do some damage.

I have found silkies to be the absolute most laid back chickens in terms of accepting younger ones into the flock.

It is an individualized thing...some hens are aggressive and some are very sweet.

However, you are talking about a tiny area there to be integrating flock members. I would not put her in with your chicks.

I have 1 white, 1black, 2 buff. They are just now getting their feather/fluff. I am still working on taming. So far they hate when I pick them up but they will let me put hands in the cage and will eat from my hand. I am not very patient so I feel like a failure since they do not like me but I am stubborn too and keep holding them every day anyway. Lol

I'm so glad you said that.. lol I think mine hate me too.
I've decide to wait til they're lose in the coop and use food as my 'weapon' to get them tame and liking me.

Yes they go through a skittish phase and will be much friendlier after they start to lay eggs.
