Oldest Chickens

Mine are doing fine, but they're very hot. I gave them some watermelon to cool them down, which they really enjoyed. They're also molting, and one of them doesn't have a tail anymore.

Also I summer treat my babies love is frozen leftover corn on the cob. It cools them down and takes them awhile to finish

Ya'll I thought I was going to lose my baby yesterday. I was so scarred.

So after feeding my girl goats I was walking in the yard to go collect Ms. Green (one of my chickens, she gets a special feed in the evenings). I hear Elvie (A young pullet) having a fit with my sister about the goat stall (she wanted to go in to lay an egg but the goat needed to eat) so I turn around and just out a view I see a chicken in the boy goat yard, but it's not in it. I yell for my sister and race over to my poor Combs who is stuck in the fence. It's cattle fencing and only on the one side of the goat pen because chickens and baby goats could get through it. She's so pale in the face, her legs are tangled in wire fencing, and she has cobwebs on her face. She was facing in so she had been trying to get back into our yard. She was off the ground and she was half way through and her wings were out. She was stuck really good. I was so freaked out. Combs is one of the smallest hens we have but she was wedged in good. My sister and I worked on both sides of the fence to move her through. When she was out I say on the ground and just held her for a moment. I was so relived. I made her drink because she was panting like crazy and then I carried her to the other girls who were eating. Let me tell you my rooster Ricky was happy to see her. She's his second in command and let me tell you if she had spurs she'd be 100% in charge. Anyways she is fine now but i wanted to share that story.

Well ladies, it's time. After 10 wonderful years Combs & Connie have stopped laying eggs.
