Olive Egger not acting normal

I checked her This morning and she has an impacted crop
I gave her 5ml olive oil and massaged her crop - it feels now much looser than before. I separated her in a crate in the coop with no food but plenty of water. what more can I do I will be at work all day and can’t check her

Hopefully you were able to get some of that broken up and moving with the olive oil and massage. It was good that you left her with water.
See how the crop is when you get home. In the mean time read the following article.
If the crop does not clear after a day or two of oil and massage, then the next step I would take is giving the stool softener.

I agree with everything Wyorp said.
It's great you managed to find out she is having trouble with her crop, it can cause them to be miserable, and is dangerous if goes unnoticed. The above article will really help you figure what the current issue is. The poor chicken will feel a lot better once her food is actually being digested :thumbsup

I came home from work and gave her again 5 ml olive oil. The crop feels less full than in the morning. I guess it was around a tennis ball size crop this morning and now it’s egg size, so I guess it’s progress. The crop feels very grainy and it’s mostly loose and moveable but there is a small area higher up which I can’t get to loosen. Will see how she looks tomorrow morning. Thank you for helping me with advice and links. Since I am new to chicken I would not even thought of a crop issue I just knew she wasn’t well.
When do I know that the problem is solved? When the crop feels empty or do I need to reintroduce food slowly and mushy?

It's good that you are working on it.
The problem is usually resolved once the crop is empty in the morning for several days in a row. Sometimes it can take a while to correct depending on the cause.
I would make sure she has plenty of water, you can offer some mushy feed if you withheld feed for a day. Make sure there's nothing in her cage she can be noshing on like bedding or paper towels. Chickens are weird at times.
Hopefully you will find it empty in the morning!
Please keep us posted.

For now, I would just feed her her own chicken feed wetted down, absolutely no grains or anything else difficult to digest which would only add to the impaction. Think 'foods that would pass through a sieve' and you will be fine. Boiled egg and plain yogurt can be given as treats.
Is there any smell coming from her beak? (Just making sure it hasn't turned into sour crop).
Did you read through the links provided? Just shout if there is anything you are wondering about. The two links are great guides but every case is individual and can throw us curve balls
Keep up the massaging as often as you can - general rule of thumb is Crop must be empty three days running to be back working properly. She will still need to be checked for crop function but should be fine after that. Best of luck with her :)

I have not checked her this morning- we r still 1 h away from sunrise but was wondering- I feed the girls scratch and peck layer so that is not an option for her for a while. Can I feed her the grower crumble - that’s the only food i know i can get in smaller quantities here. I know I have to keep her in the crate for a few more days hoping that I find an empty crop this morning but eventually she would have access to the peck and scratch- would that be a problem?
And yes I read through every link and so far no smell from her

Yes, you can give her grower or chick starter that comes in a smaller bag, that's no problem.

As for scratch and peck being a problem for her crop, not if she has grit available to her. Personally I would stick to growers in future though if that is what you can get. It ensures your girls will get the nutrients they require instead of that they want :)
