I got this chick from the OE bin, at the same time we brought home a cream legbar pullet chick. OE is 1-2 weeks older than CL; it already had tail feathers sprouted while CL just had the beginnings of her wings.

At first, we just thought that OE was a boy. But now I just don’t know what is going on lol. What is Jane?

Jane is the OE (bigger with tail). Kitty is the CL.

1 to 2 weeks difference in age can make a big difference in size and also OE are mixed breed chickens, so depending on what they are mixed with it might just turn out to be bigger once full-grown from the CL.

I’m just wondering what mix Jane is. He/she is so similar to Kitty in coloring, it’s like they’re both CL, but Jane’s head is a lighter color and there were/are some other differences.

We got an EE out of a SLW bin that the guy swore was a SLW, and I was like... I’m pretty sure this chick isn’t a silver laced Wyandotte and dude double downed.

She’s looks identical to the CL in color and pattern, so I don’t know if I’d call her an EE/OE?

I think a lot of times to get an OE, They breed a CL with a dark egg layer, such as a Maran’s or a Wellsummer. You probably won’t be able to tell until she feathers out. I would guess by the way she is holding her neck really tall, that she is mixed with Wellsummer.

So probably a CL/Welsummer mix? And she just happens to look exceptionally like a CL (so far)? Her head was more Welsummer colored, than CL.
