Olive Egger Pullets

They are pullets. It’s not too early to tell even in the early pictures, cream legbars are sex linked and you can tell by the bar across the eye that they are pullets (this is my understanding, maybe someone with more expertise on the breed can correct me if wrong but this is my understanding of the breed. I’ve only owned one cream legbar but she was absolutely lovely!)

It's not a Crested Cream Legbar, it's an Olive Egger (one parent is a Legbar and the other is a Welsummer), so the autosexing trait is not present.

Thank you so much. I had an Olive Egger hen but she passed in June. I am happy to be assured my chicks are Olive Egger Pullets.

Unfortunately, the person who made that comment was under the impression that your chick(s) are purebred Crested Cream Legbars, but they aren't, so the autosexing trait they are referring to would not be present in your Olive Eggers. They might still be pullets, but that commenter was mistaken about the "eyeliner".

It's not a Crested Cream Legbar, it's an Olive Egger (one parent is a Legbar and the other is a Welsummer), so the autosexing trait is not present.

Thank you so much for the information. I bought them from Tractor Supply and was told the Olive Eggers were Cream Legbar hen and A Welsummer rooster. Is there a difference between a Crested Cream Legbar and a Cream Legbar?

The difference is that Crested Cream Legbars (also called Cream Legbars) when bred with EACH OTHER are autosexing, but they are NOT auto sexing when they are bred with another breed, such as a Welsummer, to create a hybrid like an Olive Egger.

If you had purchased Cream Legbars, those can be sexed at hatch because the females are typically much darker, with the dark "chipmunk" stripe, and the males are very light colored.

But, because you purchased Olive Eggers, they can only be vent sexed (by a professional at the hatchery prior to going to TSC) and vent sexing is not 100% accurate.
