Olive Eggs not developing

My friend and I each bought 12 blue and olive hatching eggs from a lady that is relatively local to us. My eggs go into lockdown in a few days and as of right now majority of my eggs never even started developing. When I candle all I see is the yolk. No growth. No veins. Only yolk. I also have 10 marans eggs in with them and they seem to be developing fine. My friend has 3 out of her 12 that went into lockdown and is waiting to see if they hatch. I messaged the lady asking if they were possibly older eggs as we were having poor outcomes. She told me that we should have dry hatched them because marans and olives are sensitive to humidity. While I understand some people do dry hatch would that have caused such poor development? Enough to the point that none of them would have even started developing? The marans seem fine but they came from a different breeder. I know high humidity causes problems after internally pipping and drowning. But to not even start developing seems like she might be using the humidity as an excuse. What are yalls thoughts?

Marans do like lower humidity to hatch, but that doesn't mean an infertile egg won't develop only because of high humidity.
I'm sorry you were sold a batch of bad eggs. :(

I agree, humidity has nothing to do with whether or not they start to develop.

Lack of fertility is not the only thing that will prevent them from developing. A fertile egg has a living embryo in it. If something kills that embryo before incubation it will not develop. Storing them too long is one thing that can kill the embryo. Another possibility is that they got too hot or too cold. The eggs can be pretty tough especially regarding cold but they do have limits. I once got a horrible hatch rate when I shook a bunch of eggs up on the floorboard of the car on a rough country road. I don't know how those eggs were transported, could they have been left in a hot car for a while or really shaken up?

It's possible they were never fertile to start with but you'd think she would know she needs a rooster with the hens. My guess is that it had something to do with how they were handled.

If they aren't developing at all, I'd crack one open and check the yolk for a bullseye. Take pictures and show the seller. Any reputable person would either refund your money or at the very least replace the order with FERTILE eggs.

We know that some were fertilized. Like I had mentioned my friend has 3 from her 12 that went into lockdown. Still waiting on hatch day. If there was improper handling it wasn't on our part. I cant know for sure how she handled them or what they went through before us obviously. But they were transported home and set to rest before incubation so I truly don't feel like it could have been something that we did.

This is exactly what I planned on doing. I am giving them until tomorrow or Saturday. My husband will be home those days and I will be able to candle them before lockdown without any interruptions from my kiddos. Then I will know for sure if I should crack them open to check for fertilization.
