Olive egger eggs can be candled, just harder to see as their darker. And they should definitely not be harder.

I had luck with my olive eggs in a dark room, candying from the air sack with the egg on its side. They’re definitely hard to see.
All four of mine that hatched, pipped no where near the air cell. It was very nerve wracking and three needed assistance.

I wont be trying again im actually gonna be selling my oe hen, maran and oe rooster as I need room for my silkies and only wanted an egg from those for my egg collection. And was gonna breed to get f2 and bc1 for an egg for my collection but i dont have time to be helping chicks hatch like I did the marans eggs or them not even hatching like the oe eggs

Try doing it in a darker area. Olive egger eggs can be pretty hard to see.

I incubate in a closet theres no windows it gets pitch black and still couldnt see anything

So, wonder if that’s a common problem for those breeds. Coincidentally, my olive eggs were from an Olive Egger crossed with a welsummer/Maran. It was so stressful to see them struggle. I do not want to do it again. Of the four that hatched one died and the other took 23 days and we had to rescue it from the egg. He has a splayed leg but is still plugging along.
