I have wheaten marans and Blue wheaten Ameraucana being raised up now. We have crossed black copper marans over some EE a few years ago to get some olive eggers. However I am interested in crossing the wheatens to see if we can keep the wheaten color pure on the olive eggers. Has anyone tried this before? Just thought it would be neat to have some pure wheaten olive eggers.

Yep, someone's tried it, and yes, it works.

You'll actually get a bit of a variety but I'm sure you can breed it to be a little more "true." ( By variety I mean that I've seen Wheaties more towards the Ameraucana state, and Wheaties more towards the Marans pattern in females)

I have the same breeds here. Wheaten Marans girls and a nice Blue Wheaten Amer boy. Planning on crossing for some pretty wheaten OE next year.

I have this similar project underway, the F1s are in my bathtub right now, except i got to skip a step or few but then i'm adding a step too. If I cold be more enigmatic I wold.
