:(ok, we bought 5wk babies, watched them grow, we said wow, :Dwe got lucky only 3 roosters out of 17. Well I go and feed, and talk to them daily, play with them. I keep thinking wow my Roosters sure are crowing alot...2 leg horns, and one mixed leghorn with some red feathers mixed. They crow LOUD!!!

I notice my "hens" they are fat and beautiful!!! I love them, never seen such pretty "hens", N.E.V.E.R have they crowed gong on 22wks...

My father in law comes over I said come see my chickens, he comes up, says wow, very nice Roosters...ahhh, Pa...those are my 'hens'...my roosters are over there *point*...he smiles :Dand says no, Im talking about these here. I said no, Pa.."hens"

...he said hmmm, if you want to call them that, ok...but there "ROOSTERS"...see the top, I look, OMG...it looks like my "roosters" head...Sure enough...we have "7" ROOSTERS!!!!! :(and 10 hens...NOW WHAT DO I DO????

How do I get hens and get rid of some of these Roosters? where do I start? I also have 2 Procelin D'Uccle Roosters next to them. How did I miss this mistake??? They never crow....let me see if I can find a picture of them ...Im pretty sure Pa is right now. *heavy sigh*

You could place an add on the BYC Buy Sell Trade section, Craig's list (not my fav) or at your local feed stores...
I sold my Silkie roos for $5 each at the local feed store a while back. Took a few weeks, but now I have less roosters and the hens are happier.

OR

You can feed them up and process them for the table. Fresh chicken is YUMMY.

As for getting more hens, look for sexed chickens from a hatchery or feed store.

Be careful and good luck!

Yes, they are very handsome ROOS...post ads on here if you don't want to eat them yourself, but don't kid yourself into thinking that you are going to find pet/flock homes for that many roos...adopt a "don't ask/don't tell" policy if you don't want to know they are going to be eaten...

ETA: wow, went back and read my post, and thought it sounded kinda harsh...sorry, not my intention...I know that I am going to have to do this next year when my 'bator is kicked into overdrive, and I also know that it's going to take a while before I am able to eat any of my own babies...like unti I run out of things to name them! haa haa haa!!!

thanks for all the replies...and ideas...Ive never posted in Craigslist...I have bought but not sold or traded...Ive got that in mind: DONT ASK, DONT TELL...DONT WANNA KNOW!!!! Just take them...

Man what a disappointment!!!! Because I thought ok, I can live with 3 leg horns...and just seperate by making another coop, smaller...for just maybe a roo and 5 hens...kind of a Feathers Village. But "7" no way....

I really Loved the all white, huge Roosters, and then of course I have "Studlee" he is a Leghorn mixed I think because he has red on his sides...and I thought, wow beautiful HENS...awesome colors...the white tipped tails with cream, and then the dark almost satin green tail...and there ROOS...

Oh well...so do u think I could trade like for hens? or sell them cheap or what??? Im so lost am new to this. My hens are laying and my so called "hens" that I posted an post in here saying: My hens are trying to mount each other
roll.png
, which were really Roos:lol: "yolks on me"...anywho...boy do I feel dumb...now when I read that post.

"yolks on me" ...ha ha ha you crack me up! If you ask about $10 a piece first, then it will be more likely they'll go for a pet/flock...once you stop getting bites at that price, offer for trade, or about $5-6 each...fryer price...or contact your local 4H office to see if there is anyone looking for roos...I would donate them to a 4H-er personally....
