I don't really know anything about the genetics of Sebastopol geese other than the most basic inheritance pattern of the feathering (incomplete dominance).@NatJ is a BYC genetics guru who may be able to help, and @oldhenlikesdogs is one person I know who raises them.
I don't know whether I will have anything useful to contribute, but I will be interested in seeing what you find.I'm a genetic genealogist with a pretty solid understanding of genetic science and I'm currently studying the genetics of the Sebastopol goose phenotype (the genes responsible for physical appearance). I would like to network with other folk who are interested in this. I've noticed a lot of confusion on the subject and I may be able to help, or.. maybe you can help me.
If you're interested in the color genes, this thread has some information:At this time, my study focus is 100% on this subject, so that I can implement a viable Sebastopol breeding program next year. Could use a study buddy to help countersink the various combos of the genes and their effects on phenotype, if anyone's interested. I do hope to be ready to move on to chicken genetics this coming winter.
