So last night I was waiting for the hubby to come home and I heard thumping on my deck. It was windy so I thought the patio furniture blew over, only when I opened the door none of the furniture was blown over. I saw a white and a brown something moving by the stairs to the deck. After cracking the door for a better look it was 2 goats. They saw me at the door and came over and started licking the glass. I called my husband to see how far away he was and to tell him that there are goats on our deck. We live on a busy street and I did not want them to get hit so they are in my chicken pen and the chickens are in the coop. I called the sheriff and reported it but they have not recieved any calls. My husband took a walk this morning and found where you could clearly see where someone had pulled up and dumped them my house was closer than the farmers barn and they walked through the woods to my house. If I had the means for them they would become a part of my family, my daughter has already gave them names. They are very friendly and adorable. I think I may have found them a home she will be calling me in the morning. I just can't believe that someone would do that on a busy road and risk them getting hit.

I hope you find them a home quickly!

Maybe someone gave goats for Easter this year!?

I see wondering chickens around here (roosters mainly) that people just dump. You can tell some had been used for cock fighting and we shoot them.... way too agressive!

People are horrible to animals.

On a road trip we saw something like this. We were in Kentucky and there was a puppy in the median between the north and south bound highways. In between the lanes on the highway there was another puppy that had already been hit. Traffic was very heavy and moving quick so whoever dumped them had to have either tossed them out of the car without stopping, or they stopped when there wasn't as much traffic.

Very sad stuff. I'm glad the goats made it away from the road.

couldnt they have given them away free in an ad? I can never get to them in time around here, go fast. at least they landed on the doorstep of someone responsible and loving, lucky for them.

I had six adult goats to rehome when I lost my house. I posted on backyard herds and found wonderful homes for all of them. I found a home for my remaining roos right here on BYC. It can be done but it takes a little bit of effort.

I was leery of posting on CL because I didn't want my babies to end up as someone's dinner, if it could be avoided. On BYH I was not worried about that.

rooster0209, abso-freakin-lutely not! People are so ..... well I'll just keep my mouth shut about those people seeing as how I can't really find words that come to mind that would be child friendly. Thank you for protecting and re-homeing those two sweet little baby's. If you lived near San Angelo TX Id say take them to my uncle, he has a goat farm.

I feel your pain. We once had 2 horses dumped on us. One was pregnant. That was 15 years ago. We found homes for the two mares and still have the baby. Some people are real pieces of work.
