Well, I have my Java, Jenny, and a blue cochin, Bluebell, both sitting on eggs now. I split the 12 between the 2 of them. I felt under Jenny early on and the eggs on the fringes felt cooler. So, since Bluebell was her helper I thought I'd put 6 under her and let her try to hatch them. Today I went out and the eggs that Bluebell was taking care of were cold. I put her back in the box and she stayed but I don't know if they'll make it. Jenny Java is never seen off the nest. When I collected eggs today I had a RIR sitting on 8 eggs that she didn't want to hand over. I won out in the end!
If Bluebell's eggs don't make it, we'll try again with some more eggs since they are broody.
