OMG I Have this chicken aversion thing..

You know, this aversion for some of you, if sudden, could be the result of some sort of medication that you've taken, and you just don't know it. My daughter fought breast and lymph node cancer 2 years ago, radical mastectomy, chemo and radiation the whole nine yards. She's fine now, thank you, and one of the reminders of this time is that she can no longer eat eggs at all. She wants to, but gets them close to her mouth and well...that's it. She has forced herself to eat them, to try to get over this, and ends up hugging the throne. Her doc says it's a reaction to some of the chemicals in her medication. She is no longer taking any of the meds, the stuff just hangs in there. Whatever the cause, I know that how ever silly it may sound to the rest of us, something like this is very real to the person having the problem. I feel for you, eggs, and chicken are soooooo good!

Wow, I hope you get over the chicken meat thing. Chickens and eggs are so good. Me - I can't eat raw oysters, it's like snot from the sea, no thank you.

I've thought about the med thing too but the only new meds are recent ones, so thats out. But its true what you said about chemo/radiation...and I'm so glad you're daughter is doing well now

.

I wonder if maybe its a protein issue?? hmmm..

Sometimes meat just weirds me out. I used to be in the catering field, so how odd is that?
I don't think that what you are going through is unusual. You are just smart enough to see it as it is - dead critter. And sensitive enough to be bothered by that.
If you WANT to work through this...and I am just saying *if*... I would suggest that you distance yourself from handling the raw product with your hands. Cut into the store wrap with a knife & lift the chicken out with tongs. Shove it in the oven and don't check on it for 5 minutes or so.
Good luck & happy eating.

being that you had your plumming taken out.. Ovaries?? maybe the chemical changes the begining of menopause? That can really change the chemicals in the body?

MMMmMMM! OYSTERS!
Love oysters.

For me, it's hot wings (had a food poisoning incident), innards (*#@SONASTY) and meat on the bone. Cannot. Eat. Off the bone. There's something about it that makes me want to hurl.

. I can eat it just fine, just hate preparing it. Don't even get me started on a whole chicken or turkey!

One weird aversion that I developed during my first pregancy was to In & Out Burger!! I used to LOVE going there. I went while preggo, and that was the last time in 9 years! I can't explain it. I did not get food poisoning or anything, just can't go there.
