I beat you to it. I put them all in my hall bathroom shower. Its glass and tile so easy to clean. All seem to be doing well. Mocha Pancake is really a good momma. Baby was sort of wandering by itself behind where Momma was hovering and sheltering babies and Momma was "calling" to newest Baby with head turned looking behind her.

edit: I'll post some pictures later. I haven't completed one task today except for the babies; they're worth it.

More edit: they have been living in a 30 degree coop (at night) 50-60s during the day. Its 62 in their bathroom right now....What do you think??

this is what I did mama only had one baby, brought both into the house where they were for 3 weeks now they are in the cellar and when it gets a little warmer they will go in the coop.

So far so good. Baby hatchling seems to be getting along just fine. There is another baby not much bigger than her maybe just a hair bigger that's all. Baby hatchling whom I have named "Madelynne" has gotten the hang of pushing her little way under momma which I was afraid she was a little slow about. The rest of the chicks seem like teenagers they run about peeping as if just let out of class. Baby Madelynne sort of just stands there watching them as if to say "what's all the commotion about?"

Who in their right mind could ever watch nature and say it all happened out of chaos???

*L*A*G* :

did u hatch them in a bator and then bring them to momma?

No, Mom had 10. She started sitting and kept collecting from the other Silkie until I finally moved her. Then she didn't stay on the last three so I put them in the bator. 1 never fully developed in the shell, 1 died after hatching, and I watched "Madelynne" hatch all by her little self.

Edited; I brought Madelynne to momma; I brought them all into a tiled shower enclosure so I could monitor progress every time I walk by.

Madelynne - that's really cute! I'm glad things are going better for the new little family, it's always stressful those first few days if you have to keep chicks in your house with you! You really went "above and beyond" having her sleep with you, wish you had a picture of that!

Thanks for your well wishes. I love my silkies.

Edit; I appreciate your comment. This is by no means directed toward you (your comment brought a thought to mind.) I just want people that read this post to know that just because it's a chicken and chickens are food (mine are pets) they still get cold and hungry and too hot and feel pain. It is our responsibility to treat animals with kindness and the basics to exist. Especially in captivity. They are at our mercy. So thank you for saying that I went above and beyond but I just did what needed to be done.
Thanks again.
