Hi Chicks_N_Horses !

So glad you love your marans. Everything I have read about them from folks is they have gentle temperments and are very sweet. I do love the look of bayhorsebonne's birds. I didn't see an auction for her eggs at the time I went on ebay, so I just emailed her and she put them together for me and sent me more then twice the number of eggs I bought. That blew me away! I am so excited! Let me know when you get your's and when you start setting. Oh....by the way.....can I ask what line your BCM's will be from. We might could swap roos of something.

I have bayhorsebonne eggs and I tried dry hatch method and lost tray after tray of eggs. Best results I had was to run them at 45-50% humidity first 18 days and 60-65% during the hatch.

Hi
Thanks on the spot. Do you think it would make a difference since I am 30 miles from the beach and very humid right now? I saw pictures of your birds on another thread. They are lovely.

Hi Cuban Longtails

I did ask her before I ordered them if she had good results shipping them to the east coast and she said she did from Maine to Florida. They were sent Express Mail and that could make a difference. I think she said it was her experience the Post Office takes better care of Express Mail, but don't quote me on that.

I think the reason it gets better care is because it takes special handling and doesn't get lumped in with the other mail. I really hope you have good results!

my eggs from her birds usually ship well. I have had hatches in MI, AK, NY, FL, AZ, IA, OH, ME, SC, TN, LA, you name it. I have had a few zero hatches too. I replaced the eggs, they paid shipping.

I bought cuckoos from her off of ebay, bought a dozen and she sent 24. The eggs were gorgeous. I didnt have a great hatch, but it was good enough. California to Florida is a long way. I would definitely buy from her again.

That makes sense. My package was not beat up at all. Its a few bucks more, but with these expensive eggs it seems it's worth it. I hope I have a good hatch too! The incubator is just about right, but I will wait until the morning to set them.

Thanks Chicky Tocks! Yes I did know to let them settle a spell. After such a long trip they are resting in an egg carton looking out my dining room window. So glad you are getting BCM's too. Can we set together?

Have you hatched BCM's before?

Lovely! I'll be setting mine hopefully sometime this weekend, probably Sunday if everything goes alright and they arrive on time. That will put me a couple or three days behind you of course.

I did try to hatch some BCM's once before. Sadly I was disappointed when none of them developed. That was the only shipped batch of eggs I've ever tried to hatch. I'm going to be ever vigilant with this batch and hopefully I'll get some babehs this time!

Hey Chickie Tocks

Are your eggs being shipped from very far away from you? Mind were shipped Express from California to NC and it still took from Monday til today (Thursday). I would hate to see snail mail.

I look forward to setting with ya.
