OMG I received my BCM's from Bayhorsebonne (gorgeous & big) Have ?

I just hatched my third batch of BCM and I usually run around 40% humidity for the first 18 days then around 55-60% for the last three. Works for me. Good luck with yours, hope you have a great hatch.

Thank you Featherfoot! I was just looking at my hydrometer and it's at 33%. Was thinking I needed to boost it up just a bit.

Had to hunt up this thread and check in on your eggies! We're in lockdown!!! Woohoooo!

I started out with 13 eggs and am down to 7. Ahh the perils of shipping. That's better than my first attempt though~! I also have a frizzle egg in there and I sure hope it turns out to be a frizzle!

6 little serama eggs due on the 20th. I've moved those over to the far side of the bator in a little wire box. I don't have a hatcher so I sure hope I don't drown them during the hatch of these!
I'm due Saturday!!

Yes, they really are dark inside now. But for me, those that didn't develop were pretty obvious by day 12. They're so dark that I can't really even tell if they're moving. I'm a nervous Nelly! I reallllly want these little Black Copper babehs. Post with a pic if you get one please!!

Another one is peeping. These 2 are 2 of the 4 I knew where developed. I was very sure about them. I was reluctent to discard the others because they are so dark and I was not sure. Will see how good my candling abilities are when the hatch is over. I had a heck of a time keeping the humidity stable. Every time I up the humidity the dern temp goes down by two degrees by one of my 2 themometers. (I wonder if this one is sensitive to humidity) My hudimity was sitting right on 58 at about 4:30 this morning (of course I have been up and down all night checking

) and this morning it was 40! YIKES! So added more water and now that chickie is out the dern humidity is up to 70. So hard to regulate. Anyway so far so good. I will post pics soon. Ning Bat me forgot to charge the batteries in the camera.

Congrats! My humidity has upped a bit and I'm hopping that means that a pip has happened on the back side of an egg that I can't see. Mine are all upright in the carton. They're actually due tomorrow so I'm not going to have any fits until at least Sunday. My temps ran a little low for the still air homemade bator that I'm using. I'm hoping so hard for some babies that I have a little knot of anxiety in my belly.

Congrats on your PeeWee! I hope it's a girl so you can name her PeeWeezie!

No, I wouldn't think that you'd need to introduce another roo at this time. Most likely if all 4 eggs hatch, you'll probably get one or two. Now if you hatch eggs from these chickens eventually, a couple of years down the road you'll want to introduce a new BCM roo, but most likely this generation is still good. With chickens the inbreeding isn't such a bad thing unless you've been breeding several generations from the same flock.
