OMG! Last chick to hatch will not shut up!

Just make sure it is eating and drinking. You may need to cull it if not. I had one a week or so ago (from my hen, not dad's) that hatched with messed up eyelids, and it died after about 5 days. It could see at first, but with the goofy eyelids, it's eyes got messed up real fast.

It may be cold... I say that because you mentioned it was smaller..

I had an experience with a bantam chick I picked out to go along with the Ameracaunas and BA... the little chick kept screaming it's head off constantly and then I noticed it wasn't happy unless is was tucking itself up under a larger chicks wing or even under their legs... also when they were sleeping it would wake up chirping and I go look and it would be trying to dive under the other chicks and would wake them all up.

Since I'd gotten from the feed store, decided to exchange it for a chick closer to the same size as the others. I also wondered if Bantams were higher strung...

Well, not that you can "return" it anywhere.. just wondering if you noticed if it seemed to be searching for warmth? Good luck with the chick and the noise...

If you have a lazer pointer you can check for blindness by pointing the red light into the brooder, normal health chicks will try to peck at it and of course blind chicks cant see it.

Sorry, this is off-topic....but I caught my hubby (who isn't into the chickens...it's "my thing") playing with the chicks with a little red led light. He was cracking up watching them run around in the aquarium chasing the light!

It's not as noisy this morning, so maybe it's getting over whatever was making it chirp. Was cleaning or adjusting feathers this morning instead of just standing and chirping, so hopefully it will be ok.

Yeah I'm afraid from what I'm seeing here something is wrong. As its been said, try some vitamins for now. See how she changes. I'm not sure if she's blind from what you say... she could just be weak and is thinking 'whatever' when you come around. Not all the chicks I ever had ran from me in the brooder... my roo was my best little buddy when he was a chick, and never ran from me when I opened the brooder...

If its something more serious she might not make it much longer if the cheeping continues. Start with the electrolyts and write down if there are any changes in her appearance, attitude and stance?

Mine have been real noisy when they are hatching and first hatch out, then they settle down. I would think there was something wrong if it was constantly crying, though it could just be a very loud one I suppose!

Well it's definitely not blind. Put in another chick that hatched and Big Baby (it's new name) came right over and started to peck and investigate. It has quieted down alot now. Still chirps more than the others, but not constantly like it was.

Just a thougth......check to make sure no egg membrane is stuck over it's eyes. It might be able to see but not well. kind of an irritating thing. if so, you can moisten an paper towel or washrag with warm water and soften it up and peel it away. I know I had one and someone else had one that had stuff stuck to it. if their wing is stuck or feathers pulling(think of pulling the hair on the underside back of the neck) doesnt really hurt just so annoying. Check him over real good!
