Am I the only one who would go out there with a shovel and turn the darn thing over for a better look? Guess it would depend on the weather and how bad the smell is

I would call the animal control (game and fish, whoever is applicable to your area) on this coz I agree that larger animals don't just drop over dead like that. I believe it died either of a bad disease or very unnaturally (poison? gunshot?) and you'd want to know if your animals were in danger.
