I hope, Rozzie, that you'll still stick around on BYC, and this won't turn you off to this fantastic community.

Everybody just needs to watch what they say is all. I highly doubt Katy was trying to pick a fight. She was probably just implying that you really should read the thread through before you post. The way I figure it, if there's already more than a page of replies in the emergency section, then the original poster probably already has their answer, and doesn't need anymore input. Or, they may have another question regarding the same bird(s), which you'll find by reading the post through.

Secuono: I'm really sorry.

At least it died on it's own, without you having to put it down. Putting them down is always so hard for me, no matter how I do it.

Tegaderm is a glorified type of adhesive Saran Wrap. It's the best! It's marketed for humans and you can find it at the drug store, but it is pricey. I have bunches of it left over from my husband's surgery a few years back. I knew it would come in handy, so I kept it. You can't beat it for long-term wound healing.

Wow folks I have had to do some serious cleaning here. A few things to keep in mind. No one method of euthanasia is perfect for everyone or every situation. We do not allow name calling or emphatic statements that this or that way is cruel or inhumane. What is best in one situation, due to ability of the operator or supplies at hand may not suit another situation at all. When a person is faced with such a hard decision in the first place the last thing they need is your bickering, please show some compassion and positive support. If you have a suggestion bring it forward, if not find another thread.

Thanks for your time in reading this.

To the OP so sorry for your losses.

Ranch Tegaderm (3M) = Op-Site (Smith & Nephew) Wonderful stuff! More common here in the Op-Site name so that's why I mention it.

Thank you CMV and ABAC, I know what it is now. DH had some after his surgery in February. That stuff is a wonder wrap!

In a bird situation, with that kind of catastrophic defect, I still recommend culling, but as I also said, I've yet to face it. Can't be an easy thing to do, but I think I would go for the sharp, heavy duty scissors and cry a bit.

Secuono, I am so sorry this hatch didn't work out very well, but don't give up. It WILL get better.
