Glad to hear it turned out well. What a sweet mom.

Our cocker spaniel would false pregancy after every heat. About 6 weeks later she would gather all the stuffed animal toys, which were mostly baby chicks, and take them to her bean bag and lay on them. When we got baby chicks this spring, they became HERS. The oldest are now 22 weeks old and she goes into the run without me without issue. She is checking on HER flock.

Good luck with all your new little ones!!

I have a Rough Coat Collie, Patsy. She didn't get to have puppies but she did enjoy her 'babies':

I can relate, i have a pom that mothers every baby born here, she herself has never had pups.

She once stole our cats kittens when the cat was having them, took them into the laundry room and cleaned them up and i found her trying to let them nurse.

When i open up the incubator to take out the babies i have to lock her up in my bedroom, she goes crazy ,after they have all hatch i give in and put her in with them, she is so in love with the babies.

if it works, this is Abigail, (aka the chicknapper) with her babes last tuesday the 25th, about an hour afte the last pup was born. She has eleven!

I love this story! I read it out loud to my husband. My blind Italian Greyhound raised three little kittens a few summers ago. He was a very proud Daddy Kat. But never have I heard of a chicken rearing dog!
