They are constantly pecking the side of the brooder. It is like Chinese water torture. What in the world is up with that? I've never had any to be so OCD about pecking. Same spot...peck, peck, peck, peck.......

Sorry dont mean to laugh, but this is EXACTLY why ours were moved to the garage a couple weeks ago

Mine did that incessantly and still do when they are bored. I have six black Australorps who turned five weeks old yesterday. They would take turns pecking at the same hole. I finally had to put mine on the sun porch, but I have extremely good hearing, so I can still hear them when they get going.

Sigh ... They are fully feathered and should be put outside in a coop and run, but I will miss the noisy little critters. I still run out to the sun porch and check on them every hour or so.

My chicks don't do that. But my ducks do! Esp at like 3 am... Drives me insane.

Mine, light brahma's, r doing the same thing! Mine r in the basement tho under their heat lamp and I can't hear them unless I'm down there....thankfully!!

Mine do do it ALL the time, but often enough and for extended periods of time. It almost sounds like someone knocking on the door, so the dogs go nuts when the chicks start this up.

And I have 3 call ducklings in another brooder in the bathroom, too. Yes, they bill EVERYTHING and the tapping is incessant.

Funny, it doesn't bother me. Just the dogs.

We got a couch last week and the box was extra large, so we moved our 5 week old chicks in there and since then they are in demolition mode.. they have pecked one spot and made a quarter sized hole already.. every time my chicks peck, my dogs think somebody is knocking at our door and go into alert mode..we have to tell them ''it's the chicks'', it's quite funny!
