The search button to me was very hard to use when I first started...I didn't know it was here at first so when I asked a simple question I was informed to go to the search option...I did, but I was there for about two hours to find something that happened to help me a little. Ended up asking again and in 2 min someone was nice enough to help me out and it took 2 min of their time. I know it's irritating to go on and take a few min to help even though it may be in search but sometimes you get a lot of "chat" to look/read through to get your answer. And for a newbie that could be enough to chase them away from the site. What I figure is I spend hours on this site anyhow I may as well take a few min to answer a question if I know it even tho it may be easy to find on search. Just a nice gesture for the newer ones here IMO. I DO understand your points though

Alos...This is also why I don't play those "lets see how long it will be before the moderator posts" or something like that LOL and the other games. These sort of threads for some reason get a LOT of posts which bumps all the ones that NEED answers way down the line. Yes they are on a separate thread but all the threads come to the main web page and bumps the others down farther.

Shouldn't you use the SEARCH feature first, that is why 1/2 of the questions go unanswered, how many times do I need to let people know what temperature thier brooder should be, and is it OK to turn off the light on a day when its 95 degrees out? 3 times yesterday because I was in a good mood, today I will ignore those questions and let them wonder.

I was on here for 6 months and had to think REALLY hard what the word "bump" meant

no joke. I had no idea there was a "recent" posts page. I though each topic had to be read under its topic. BUT, I view this forum as a social site, as well as a chicken source site. If not, there wouldn't be ramblings and such, which are just as interesting as the same old question of how long should I keep my birds seperate. However, for newer members, they too may not realize you can search, or how to, and they will not feel welcome if they don't get some type of answer. So, for those cut and pasters, it is wonderful when you post a "link" for them to use, and at least give them some kind of answer. Yes, it is much nicer to say "I feel your pain, but go here................" We don't want to discourage new people from becomming as addicted as we are, JMHO.

Joe, but we only read posts by goodlooking men.

Hmmm, well, it's no wonder then that you replied to mine.

It was an accident. I confused your avatar with PurpleChicken's.

I like this attitude and it's the reason I keep coming back to BYC.

today I will ignore those questions and let them wonder

Glad everyone doesn't have this attitude.

I have to admit that I huff and roll my eyes several times a day with these issues that were mentioned. It could be because I was on this sight for a solid week reading the searching and checking everyone out before I posted for the first time.. so right away I could see that MANY people DON't read the FAQs .. or try to search for answers or even GOOGLE terms before they just plop out a thread so someone else can feed them the answer.

Now .. on the flip side .. when I answer those posts, I will say something like "Welcome to BYC .. you can find what you are looking for here .. and usually post a link" ... I DO understand that some people don't KNOW how to search or GOOGLE .. I think .. right? lol

Then I guess I'll eventually get called on my **pout** replies everytime someone posts Maran eggs or chickens for sale .. BWA HA HA HA

It's all good .........
