I havea chihuahua, she is the best. Just make sure you socialize him as a pup or he will be unfriendly to strangers. I think the name Charlie would be cute for a chihuahua.

its' very true about the socialization. i have two and they are not barky or nippy at all. but taht is because from a young age, we had strangers hold them and told them no meant no just like a big dog. you can turn chihuhuas into evil little hitler dogs by overbabying them. ours wear sweaters and we talk cute baby talk to them, but if we say go to bed or get in your cage, they do it right then. as a bonus, they are well behaved so get to go many places.

anyway. i love chihuhuas but just hate the way some people raise them. they are very loyal and good watchdogs, and very very smart. they can be taught many things. i have one that even knows the freeway exit to her favorite place to go. not that i would let them ride in the car or anything. especially not on the back of my neck like a neckroll pillow. that would be spoiling them. just be glad i don't live in your state.

Ya I have a chi too and he is not very stranger friendly. I did socialize him but for some reason he just does not like them. I think he was scared by someone that he did not know that well and now all he does is yip at them. He does warm up after a while but it is true you do need to socialize them a lot.

One of my "grand-dogs" is a four pound chihuahua and I named her Tequilla! She is so sweet and is not a yapper. We had to put a collar with a bell on it on her to hear where she was at all times for safety.
