On the mend, but still questions: UPDATE, 20 week old banty wormy as heck,

I started LABs wed but they aren't ready yet....
She is drinking, and pooping. I will weigh her again tomorrow. I am betting she is not gaining weight. Crossing my fingers that when I come home she will have a full crop. Am researching where oh where to get the danged feeding tubes. I have tried two vet clinics, no dice. will keep trying.
thanks everyone, I am learning a lot.

If you can't find a tube you can use aquarium tubing instead, just light a match and melt one end so it's nice a smooth.

forget the vets offices
call your local home health care ..they have them and I get them through them or the pharmacy.
Get a 16 female cath..tell them it is to feed birds..its about 2 bucks

When I was talking about probiotics, I was thinking more something like what's at these links rather than the home made LABs.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of these. There are several brands out there. Some you sprinkle on feed and some you put in water.

ok, I tried the local home health care agency, and they were all out deer hunting, its deer opener here. I know one though who lives up the road and I left her a voice mail asking her.

Most vets should have them.

I thought so too, I think it is more whether they are willing to sell you one.

ok, I have powdererd probiotics and will dust the feed dish with them. If I put a little codliver oil in the dish, and mix it up with the groats, meal worms and feed, and then the probiotics, she should get some into her.

WHile I was feeding her she did have a darker green but looser poop and it had a piece of red in it, what I've always thought of as intestinal lining that is being shed. Hope I don't see more of that.

Sue, I'll look at those links later, my daughter and husband are coming into town tonight.

mrs murphy is continuing to eat meal worms. she is drinking well, her poops are firm, and this morning she weighed 1.38 lb, so a very small weight gain. I still have her on corid, tomorrow I will dose her vitamins.

I do have the feeling that she is weaker, though, because she is laying on her hocks more, her toes are curling, and seems to have poorer balance. I will be able to work with her more tomorrow.
