She looks sooo sweet. I wouldn't have guessed it was so hot, she looks so relaxed and comfy laying there. It's been freezing here, in the mornings I have to go break the ice in the ducks pools and drinking water. How ya doing Alicia? Hows all the duckies doing? I haven't talked to you in a longggg time. Hope your Christmas and New Years were great for you and your daughter. ~Julie~
Hi Julie- Yes its been so warm here of late that my eggs are starting to develop before I get them into the incubator!! I have some breeding pens in the shed- and wasnt so good with collecting eggs EVERY day. I just went in to the spare room to put some eggs down into the hatching tray and found I very sweet surprise!! 1 hatched 3 day early little cheeky fluff ball sitting up on top of the eggs. 4 other eggs have pipped - but sadly I have also lost a few since the humidity wasnt raised yet.
I will send you a Pm with some news of Christmas and New Year - but all the duckies are fine.. ALL of them... I have just decided tonight - no more eggs in the incubator for a while for me- it is fully loaded right now- and I have now run out of brooders since these new ones are arriving already. Hope you and yours had a great holiday period and wish you all the best for 2012- including some warmer weather for you for the rest of winter.
Amiga- we can all improvise when needed to fix things the way we want it- but it does sound that your place really is perfect for ducks!! I can just see you herding them in and out with ease. I have some young ones that recently went outside to live. They spend the day on the grass then sleep in a sheltered area. They are so well trained already in that I open the gate for them in the evening and they all run to the box- and stand there waiting for me to pick them up. The last of whom is usually jumping up trying to get in by themselves in the rush for some dinner.
