I asked this question last fall, but this rooster was very young then. So I decided to ask it again, now that he's mature and of breeding age. I plan on offering hatching eggs from my silkies this year, so knowing this guy's color would be helpful. His father was colombian, and his mother was grey. What color is this guy considered?

ETA: Any comments/opinions about his quality is appreciated, too.

Grey, which in other breeds is called silver. He has some faults, and isn;t the classic grey, but I personally think he is extremely attractive!

Genetically he probably has other things going on as well--not sure what all. He may be grey splash?

Colombian Rock? Wyndotte? I have a ton of colombian rock bantams, and white silkies maybe I'll try this out. I see some of his colombian in like the tail and hackle area. Very nice!

You are right,
He is a grey or silver, which ever one you wish to call it. There is a dark grey as well that looks nothing like these so the term silver is becoming more used to discribe this particular shade or grey.
I like these way more than the standard grey, much more beauty in the color. As for the genetics, looks like all silkie to me?
