Hello,

Recently I picked up two olive eggers and one passed last night :( I have 6 other adult hens in the back yard not one wants to be a mommy. I've tried;, leaving me with one bird that's barely a week old with no friends or a mommy inside the home. Question, do I have to get a second bird or can I wait it out life inside with no consequences?
Also is there a way to keep the bird warm at night outside without using a lamp?

That is my question is if it will die or not. Is there a chance that she won't?
she will have emotional issues. ... probably.

If you keep her warm and care for her, she might grow just fine and not die. But, then when she is grown she might not want to join the flock.

It is just that her overall chances will be much higher if she has a friend.

I have an 11 year old hen that was hatched as a single chick. So they can survive. But a one week old chick needs HEAT! 90 degrees. Put int in a box with a regular lamp and a 40 or 60 watt bulb. ( not an LED bulb) Crookneck lamps work great. Make sure it doesn't get too hot. The chick needs chick starter and water. A mirror will help it feel less lonely.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the chick be left outside!
