They are in w/the silkie chicks who are very, very good big brothers/sisters...the mama hen killed my one and only BO chick so far. The weak black chick was still alive this morning, will see how its done today after work.

Wow!! That is very interesting, what you did. Who would have ever thought. So you didn't even know the temps the whole time? No vents at all?

Goes to show its an art and not so much a science. This is very encouraging. Thanks so much for sharing. Congratulations!

Six out of nine eggs survived and healthy except the black chick is still smaller than the others but eating and drinking now. I just set the lid on a tiny bit cockeyed for a tiny bit of air like a vent off and on. I was a miserable failure with the "everything right" set up and didn't really think this would work. I read the story on BYC how a man told a kid the humidy set up drowns them and that was my main problem the first time so decided to try this. I still have the other nine eggs waiting to hatch...

These first chicks are EE's. The second set are BO and BLRWxAndalusian.

I guess I really wanted more of those Black EE birds...the first to hatch is another one of those and the other green egg is pipping;)

I really hope the rest of the brown eggs are the BLRWxAndalusian and RIRxAndalusian cause I really have enough Black EE chicks now! 7 of 'em now...but its telling me they are breeding true! No variations in color, just Black EE's who lay green or pink/brown eggs and all but one so far has the amish beard look:)

Please, please, let there be no more EE eggs...I know I went crazy!
