One duck egg

What other kind of stuff do ducks and ducklings and chicks enjoy eating. I saw a cute video of some Perkins ducks swimming in a pool slurping up some spinach leaves. I know chickens like the mealworms and vegetables and non citrus fruits scraps, is it the same for ducks.

I've noticed my ducks don't eat the same treats that the chickens do, but they do seem to like scrambled or hard-boiled eggs and weeds. I walk around the yard once a day and pull a couple handfuls of weeds, dandelions, ragweed, silver dollars, etc. They eat them when they are free-ranging also, but they seem to like the lazy approach of me doing the work and putting it all in the coop.

To day is the big hatch out day

I hear chirps but no cracking of the eggs. I thought my mind was playing tricks on meat first and it was wishful thinking. Humidity is 66-67 and temp 99.5 to 100 . I guess I have to be patient and see what happens. 13 mixed eggs blues,greens, browns and then my white duck egg.

Congratulations! Yes, they do tend to peep a bit before they make the journey out. It's cool to think that the mother hens can hear them for several days before we can. Just be patient, they may be cracked where you can't see them. I've also got a hatch coming out today, just the chicks - so far, 3 have hatched, with at least 4 more with visible cracks. It's a fun experience to watch them hatching - I'm on my 4th hatch and it's still as exciting as the first time, and I hope that feeling never goes away!

So did your chickens hatch? I had my first hatch at 11 AM and waiting on the other 12. I messed up an put him in the brooder because he was really wild and knocking all the other eggs around then I read he was suppose to stay in the incubator for a day. I guess they are just exhausted after hatching he has been chirping a lot and he moves a little but sleeps a lot. I know they don't need to eat for 2 days because of their yolk sac. I guess I panicked and thought he would crack the other eggs... oops. He is an Americana and has a white dot on his head so I am pretty sure he is a male. Thanks for sharing regarding the what your ducks like to eat.

My hatch started on Thursday morning, finished late last night. I started with 14 eggs, 2 didn't seem fertilized at the 14 day candling, and 2 didn't make it through the hatch. That left me with 10. Not a bad turnout. How's yours going?

Mine also started out on Thursday and just had one. I woke up to 3 More hatched Friday morning and had 3 hatch yesterday. One I ended up assisting because it got knocked over twice from others hatching and it was zipped and looked like it's was dying up. It's toes are curly and one leg is splayed. I looked at some u tube videos and taped its feet and did some rubber band trick to its legs, it's sad. There's another egg from the same batch that is slow and progressing attached to so I hope I don't run into more problems like that. The poor thing continuously cries. I have a few other eggs and my duck egg left. I am not sure how long to leave my duck egg in there, it's luck down started Thursday , I am hoping it will hatch Monday she wasn't sure if it was a Pekin or a Moscovey. The chickens are Brahma blue partridge and I had a silver lace that had no trouble hatching.
Any suggestions on what to do about my disabled chick.

Unfortunately no suggestions. It's sad to think about it, but keeping that chick in the egg was mother nature's way of trying to save you from the heartache of knowing that chick might not make it. But then again, it may become one of the strongest members of your flock - who's to say until it happens.
