One duck lays soft eggs

Or maybe the shell gland just never developed correctly? That would kinda make sense to me that you don't see it at the beginning of the season.. has time to build up in her system over winter, then once she starts laying it depletes and can't replenish fast enough
Interesting idea. Can anyone else comment?
 
I think you should put a camera in the coop, you can get a nice one around 30 dollars on Amazon. That way you can know which duck is doing the laying, then try a calcium supplement with them and see if you see improvement.

I wonder whether I could distinguish one fawn and white runner from another in a dark coop? Might be worth a try.

The camera I have works pretty well at night, if you needed to you could put a band around one of their legs for the night so you can distinguish them.
