One duck taken by a hawk, the other scratched, lost it's quack

My boyfriend said the ducks are like Hershey's Kisses sitting in the yard to predators. You're right. A fella at our TSC said he saw a hawk take a large rooster once. Hawks & owls get tired of all that work for a tiny field mouse.

I'm very thankful that in close to 10yrs I haven't lost any of my ducks or geese to predators, I've lost some chickens that were free ranging and didn't come home, [silent preds.]

I had about 23 ducks at one time. I will have had ducks for two years come April. I have lost 5 total. They were free ranging. I suspect red tailed hawks, owls & maybe a dog/racoon/ fox or coyote. I chase off feral cats. I used to own cats & some killed critters just about daily. Ducks are pretty defenseless. I have my favorites & losing them would leave me very, very sad.
